Read previewAnya-Taylor Joy's cameo in "Dune: Part Two" only last a few seconds, but it could lead to something bigger if Warner Bros. gives the go-ahead for "Dune: Part Three." Anya Taylor-Joy plays Alia Atreides in 'Dune: Part Two'Anya Taylor-Joy at the "Dune: Part Two" New York premiere and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica. Alia Atreides could replace her brother in 'Dune: Part Three'Timothée Chalamet in "Dune: Part Two." So there's plenty of plot twists for Taylor-Joy to explore as Alia if "Dune: Part Three" gets off the ground.

Though the movie's ending takes some liberties from Herbert's book, it should leave audiences begging for a third movie. In the movie's thrilling conclusion, Paul drinks the Water of Life, which is supposed to bring death to any man who consumes it. Sure, they might stay together if Villeneuve gets to make "Dune 3," but it could be a while before that happens. AdvertisementIn late 2023, he said at a press conference in South Korea that the screenplay for the third movie, which would be based on Herbert's book "Dune Messiah," was "almost finished." But even if "Dune: Part Two" becomes a box office success, the director will not hustle to close the trilogy.

“Dune” is set about 20,000 years in the future, and much of the series takes place on the desert planet of Arrakis. Part of the galactic empire of the Imperium, which is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam, Arrakis is vital because it offers a necessary resource — spice — that exists nowhere else. In “Part One,” the emperor transferred control of Arrakis from the brutes of House Harkonnen to their longtime foes, House Atreides. “Part Two” opens with the words “Power over spice is power over all.” After a religious revolt against robots millenniums before the start of the series, the use of intelligent machines was banned. The resource is particularly crucial to the navigators, who enable interstellar travel.

CNN —If David Lynch’s 1984 “Dune” movie raced through the book, the second half of director Denis Villeneuve’s version at times moves as if it’s walking in sand, figuratively as well as literally. LONDON (AP) — Zendaya is on a fashion roll, in a cyborg “Dune: Part Two” kind of way. The co-star of the highly anticipated film sequel stunned Thursday at its world premiere when she hit the sand-strewn carpet in a silver robot suit straight from the archive of Mugler. While the runway version included a matching headpiece, Zendaya opted for a short sleek hairdo and a blue diamond necklace from Bulgari. "Dune: Part Two" has departed the 2023 box office slate amid dual Hollywood labor strikes that threaten its ability to market to the public. Box office analysts have long anticipated that the "Dune" sequel would ditch its 2023 release date amid the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes. Postponing "Dune: Part Two" might help bolster its box office gains in 2024, but will bite a chunk out of Warner Bros. After the stunning success of "Barbie," and with doubts growing about December's "Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom," "Dune: Part Two" was an important 2023 release for the studio and expected to perform well with audiences. Its predecessor excelled at the box office during the pandemic despite being a day-and-date release on streaming service HBO Max (now just called Max).

Step forward the “corporate artisan”, star of the Italian fashion house’s SS24 show on Thursday night and proposed pin-up for next season. Viewers say the character seems to resemble aspects of both Elon Musk and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek. Alexander Skarsgard plays Matsson, the billionaire CEO of tech streaming media giant GoJo – a socially awkward, vaguely sinister tech bro. But viewers have been pointing out the character's similarities to two bosses in particular — Elon Musk, and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek. "I definitely didn't try to play an Elon Musk character," Skarsgard said. In one recent episode of "Succession," Matsson tweets a "very nasty joke" after Kendall Roy's presentation about the Living+ initiative because he's less than pleased about the move.
“Succession” has treated us to both a wedding and a funeral as fate of the Roy siblings spin out towards its finale (which is produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, parent company of CNN), and its penultimate episode gave us mourning dress codes in a grand Catholic setting. “I can do anything — my dad just died,” Shiv responds when asked for a favor at the mass. By episode nine, with the company in a shaky post-Logan transition, the optics of how the Roy siblings perform at the funeral hold a lot of weight. Emotions must be stamped down, they maintain a fragile façade, and getting too close to the truth of Logan Roy is met with a wall of cognitive dissonance.
PLOT LINES Planning a trip can be as complex as planning a succession, as Shiv, Roman and Kendall surely know. Photo: Claudette Barius/HBOWHEN, ON May 28, “Succession” reaches its finale, fans will be left to muse on where the Roys will head next in their family drama and what scenic spots they might seek out to recover from all the filial backstabbing—or to engage in even more. So many enviable locations figured in the series, from the Juvet Landscape Hotel near Valldal, Norway, where the Roys conferred with rival Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) to La Foce, one of Lady Caroline’s (Harriet Walter) nuptial-weekend villas. So we asked Bellini Travel founder Emily FitzRoy (who consulted on Italy locations for the show) and other luxury planners to imagine real-life escapades for the “Succession” cast—or you, if you have the budget—after the end credits roll.
Brandon Cronenberg’s body-horror “Infinity Pool” is a movie that leaks. It’s as viscous as it is vicious, fueled by endless fluids: blood, sweat, tears, urine, semen and vomit. Breastfeeding, it turns out, is the most horrifying act of them all. A slew of recent horror movies and series, including “Infinity Pool,” “Barbarian,” “Titane” and “The Baby,” have featured erotic lactation, brutalized nipples and demonic nursing. There’s no fixed formula for creating these scenes, the “Infinity Pool” intimacy coordinator Casey Hudecki explained.
By now, we should be used to HBO’s series pulling the rug out from beneath our expectations. Still, as more than one pundit observed of Logan’s death, this one shocked more than merely surprised. Not me, though I do miss Brian Cox already because few actors anywhere are as adroit at playing dyspeptic sociopaths. It would be at the very least ironic if “Greg the Egg,” the minion’s minion, stumbled into power as if he tripped on a sidewalk. I’ll say no more on this except to suggest that you all try to remember who in the end won that “Game of Thrones.” It’s not inevitable.
